If you support fansubs that are accurate and honest, please drop your support of
Miss Dream and
Nyoro~n fansubs. These groups are run by the same two people. The group's main manager is a girl named Elly Winters/Eleanor Camille Stenson/Elly Hansen and she hates anyone who points out her group's flaws in translation and somehow spins her sob story to make it everyone else's fault.
Some fans had doubted her translations over the last two years. A few examples include "Usuyaki Tamago" as "fish paper", "tarako" as "tarako sauce" (who puts that in rice balls?), and 人は輝く花のカーテン as "People are glittering like a nose in a garden". Every time she has claimed that she is the correct one and even posted photos of her proudly holding her JLPT level 2 certificate.
Except, that it was faked (read the evidence here). Last night it was revealed that she had photoshopped the certificate and had been subject to a Cease and Desist from the JLPT. On her own website, she had the nerve to write:
When you visit Miss Dream, we want you to be able to trust in our ability to translate. Since we are confident in our abilities we have decided to showcase our achievements for the sake of the naysayers and those who would call into question our proficiency. Now you don't have to take anyone's word for it -- the proof is in the pudding, or in this case the paperwork. So don't trust your translations to just any old website that claims to have an "anonymous Japanese native speaker" -- get some proof
Aside from "Japanese Native Speaker" being grammatically wrong, she is showing that she is an egotistical maniac that she knows Japanese better than anyone who is a native speaker of the language.
I hope that animesuki and other sites will unite and remove links to these groups fansubs in support of honest and accurate work. Please do your part and don't support these groups either for what they have done. She also refuses to pull down her scanlations of the Sailor Moon manga, despite the announcement of its licensure. They have been terrorizing the Sailor Moon and anime community for years now in the name of their own self-righteousness, and her failure to admit her wrongdoing while also continuing to put down anyone else who translates the same work that she does shows that she just wants the attention without the accuracy and honesty.
