I18N

English hxxp://tokyotosho.com hxxp://en.tokyotosho.com hxxp://www.tokyotosho.com
Japanese http://ja.tokyotosho.com
Based on ISO_3166-1_alpha-2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2#Officially_assigned_code_elements

I'm a bit curious on this aspect.  Whilst there's not too much static text to translate, considering the majority of torrents are either English or Japanese titled, is there really much demand (or need) for this?  A quick look at the web stats doesn't reveal any related to user region, yet I'm sure you know better than I.

Also torrents with  hiragano, kanji dispaly is to be translated so computer who cant display them properly can know what is it.

Technically possible, but you'll run into encoding issues.  Is the text meant to be EUC, JSIS, UTF*, etc?  Yes, you can try to figure it out and produce text "everyone" can see as a type of image.  Yet the folks who can view (and read) the text don't need it, and the ones who do won't likely be able to deal with the said encoding anyway if they try to leech the torrent.  So, fairly moot and quite silly.

What if I made a link for visitors to say, N people voted this file was a fake, wrong section, or other predefined statement?

How about a /. style situation?  Frequent forum goers and torrent posters get mod points which they can use to "correct" (i.e., mod down/up; possibly re-categorize) bad torrents.  While this would arguably limit the effectiveness, it may curve the ability to abuse which an anonymous system might otherwise incur.

Translations will be for user interface. There may be the possibility for classification of torrents only in a certain language TT.
Right now many users do come from Japan and Europe. Having a translated user interface can encourage more groups and submissions from these regions.
Alexa stats

All text handled at TT is in UTF-8. It could be possible for the site to detect if you don't have Japanese support to generate images of text but I don't think that's a very useful feature for reasons stated.

Making a /. system will be too complicated at this time. The "flagging" system would be similar to along how craigslist works, but I'm not sure whether it will automatically remove torrents, or possibly make it "grayed out" or other mark.

Konbanwa Edward_K-san,

First: My heartfelt appreciation that this site continues to exits due to your efforts and generosity. Hontoni arigatou gozaimasta!

Second:
 Will anyone visit this page?
 hxxp://tokyotosho.com/donate/

I've wanted to contribute to help you keep the lights on numerous times, but the last public comment was that your Paypal account was closed.  Have you rectified that issue so that folks can contribute through their existing Paypal accounts as Goods or Services?  How about an alternative method to accept donations like Bidpay?  Bidpay will now accept non-auction transactions for on-line business transactions (via Visa M/C only) with lower fees than Paypal plus folks don't have to create a specific account to pay via C/C.  Suggestion: Make it so the basic quantity "Service"=$1 and if we want to contribute, say $10, we "purchase" quantity 10 of Service and send payment.

Third:
Onegai shimasu.  m_0_m  A slight modification to the existing Search function.  Example: while within the category Anime, I search for Bleach, but search returns ALL results across all categories (manga, henti, anime, non-english, etc.) for Bleach rather than just within the specific category (Anime) that I'm in.

Fourth:
A better or easier way for non-English sub-titled groups, both anime and manga, to properly recognize and enter their torrents in the proper place, rather than just dumping them in the main groups and letting you or someone else sort them out to the right place later.  With so many translation/scanlation groups coming and going, it's been tough at times to distinguish exactly what language the material is actually in.  Maybe check boxes that use a Romangi-like title to provide better comprehension and easier recognition for non-English speakers/readers, e.g., espanol, italiano, francais, puccia (Russia), etc.

Arigatou gozaimasta to dozo ogenki de!

And a small thing for the forum.

A spoiler tag that works.... lol, since the old one doesn't work anymore or has never worked...

I'm talking about:
  • Use
Code:
[spoiler=optional title]some spoilage[/spoiler]
to show something that may be spoilers.
  • Trolls aren't welcome here.
  • Linking to other sites is OK.
  • No warez, cracks or that kind of thing.
[/list]

Just my 2cents, dunno if they have been already mentioned in this thread.

1) Have the 'search' field be focused upon entering the site. So I can write in it directly without clicking in it with the mouse or spamming tab 4230472034 times.
2) Keep the links for category-filtering in the search result page.

I'd enjoy more powerful categories.

For instance:
All animation is anime, if it's hentai it has an additional hentai flag. If it is raw, it has an additional raw flag.
Same goes for manga.
I'm sure more could be done in this vein.

Separate categories for japanese music and anime-related music. Yeah, I'm just looking for soundtracks.

aka Tagging Wink

i vote for better search and tagging. Smiley

I'd have some concerns about tagging; there are some times that submitters can't even get the general category correct, what would they do with tags? Especially if they are viewing the submission page in English when English is not a strong language for them. Would the tags be in English?

Categories will be decoupled from the language. I suppose people would be able to choose on submission:

Audio Language: xxx,xxx,xxx
Subtitle Language: xxx,xxx,xxx

For ease of entry, some common languages will be put in a list while I guess I can leave a box or two entry for writing in other languages.

If it's manga, then there's really just 1, I suppose I can make the form change to just say "language".

As for air dates and all that, I think that can be covered by the AniDB or ANN fields. (You can enter in the id # and it will create a link to the appropriate site)

Also for general torrent comments, I think they can be expanded in to a short description field for showing on the index, and a long forum type edit box, with bbcode for the details page. It will be integrated in to this forum.
