anyone have a solution that doesn't require me to change the OS =P

As far as i know, It should work just fine. But I'm no Vista user, so maybe someone else can help.

Edit. You might wanna try the latest Beta version of CCCP. Maybe that will help (it's a longshot). You can find it here.

Yeah I always use the beta too. Works most of the time. Check the settings to show that the Lyrics and subtitles are "on if available"

why is zoom better?
mpc > zoom. imho
i think i might switch to zoom on my laptop but it sucks that i can't take any screenshots with it. i don't use mpc because it's cr4ppy audio settings make controlling audio very messy on my laptop.

I like zoom better for there easy controls for video, abilty to zoom (very good when something has a black bar on top and bottom, which makes it on a widesreen (like on my notbook) in fullscreen black screen on top and bottom (from the file) and right and left (from wmp filler). with zoom, you can zoom these away.

Zoom also has good audio contols, and arrangable radio stations, and more. And i like the layout.

If you're still having this problem, or if anyone else finds this thread through a search engine (like I did), I think I've found the problem and a simple solution (at least for the subtitles).

The problem is caused by CCCP, Haali Media Splitter, & VSFilter.

The key to fixing it is in CCCP's Settings Application (Found in the Combined Community Codec Pack folder in the start menu). Make sure that Autoload VSFilter and Show Tray Icon are checked. Next, start your file.

If the subtitles are still not showing, right click on the DirectVobSub tray icon (it looks like a large green arrow, kind of like the shortcut symbol), and make sure that the subtitle settings are correct.

I hope this helps at least one person,

-Zero

P.S. Yes, I know this is an old thread, but I figured it was best to post here, since I found this in the second listing on Google. Besides, it was the only listing I could find on the subject, and I didn't want to start a new one.
